BrisSUP members paddling on Brisbane waterways

Brisbane's home of stand-up paddleboarding.

BrisSUP Inc. is a well-established club with a passion for stand-up paddling, welcoming paddlers of all ages and abilities across Brisbane, Moreton Bay and South-East Queensland.

Founded in 2013 by a group of passionate Brisbanites, BrisSUP has grown from a handful of enthusiasts to over 170 members. We meet regularly at beautiful waterway locations — from the mangroves at Manly to the open waters of Raby Bay — and beyond to the Gold Coast.

Affiliated with Paddle Australia and Paddle Queensland, our members have competed at the Australian SUP National Championships and the ICF SUP World Championships. Whether you're picking up a board for the first time or chasing a world ranking, you'll find your crew here.

From a handful of paddlers to a thriving club.

It all began in early 2012 with a few Brisbanites passionate about improving their fitness through stand-up paddling. By 2013, interest had grown rapidly and the club formed.

Within four months, BrisSUP had over 50 members and 270 Facebook followers. By 2020, membership exceeded 170 with more than 2,000 Facebook followers. BrisSUPers are a friendly bunch who enjoy paddling in the beautiful estuaries, lakes, inlets, bays and creeks around Brisbane.

While numbers have fluctuated over the years, we continue to welcome new and long-standing members. Join us on regular social paddles for a fun, family day out — anyone of any age or skill level can attend. We also host a race series for those wanting to challenge themselves and improve technique in a supportive environment.

In 2023 we proudly celebrated BrisSUP's 10th Anniversary. Our flagship race, the Coochie Classic, carries world-ranking recognition and remains a highlight of the Queensland SUP calendar.

Relaxed paddles, great company.

Regular social paddles take us to iconic spots across Brisbane and Moreton Bay — Raby Bay, Cleveland, Manly Harbour, and beyond. Open to all ages and skill levels, each paddle is followed by time to socialise. Spot dolphins, dugongs, and each other along the way.

Whether it's a scenic cruise through the mangroves at Manly or a paddle spotting wildlife at Raby Bay, social paddles are the heart of BrisSUP community life.

Challenge yourself on the water.

Weekly Tuesday Time Trials and an active club race series give paddlers of all abilities the chance to improve technique and chase personal bests in a supportive environment.

BrisSUP Race Series includes technical (BOP) races — short course with tight buoy turns — and distance races from 3–8 km. All abilities are welcome. Check the event calendar for upcoming race dates.

Queensland's premier SUP race.

Our flagship event, the Coochie Classic, is held at Coochiemudlo Island and carries world-ranking recognition. It forms part of the Queensland SUP Triseries alongside Clearwater Classic and Race the Bay.
